a creative journey

Book Cover.jpg
  • A beautiful collection spanning two decades of artwork, capturing people, places, and moments in vivid detail.

  • A unique blend of graphite drawings, sketches, and oil painting.

  • Wide appeal with a focus on New Zealand’s people, landscapes, native birds, and even classic motorcycles.

  • Behind-the-scenes insights into the artist’s creative journey, from market stalls to ferry sketches and commissioned portraits.

"I have enjoyed your new book. It is quite unlike anything I have seen previously. Each page I turned was a surprise.
I like the mixture of text and the mix of art media - oil paintings and pencil sketches.
...
the text [is] a delight to read ... you have managed to capture very realistic faces with a variety of expressions ...
Y
our subject matter was quite diverse which made the book interesting."

About me

Art has been part of my journey for as long as I can remember. I spent two years studying through Te Kura Correspondence School, where I was honoured to receive Top Art for my final year folio. I then completed four years at The Learning Connexion in Wellington, further developing my skills and exploring new techniques.

Some of my most memorable workspaces have been outside the studio — sketching live portraits aboard frequent ferry trips, where I earned my passage by entertaining fellow passengers, and at The Nelson Market, where I spent many years drawing customers and creating custom portraits of people and pets.

My portfolio has grown to include everything from native birds and classic motorcycles to everyday moments and plein air scenes. But the true highlight of my work has been the people I've met — capturing family stories and special moments through commissioned portraits. It’s a privilege to create pieces that can be shared and treasured for generations.
